Sunday, April 21st
Mother Nature got a little bit testy on Friday, dropping the temperatures about 20 degrees, and sending a lot of wind and rain through the region. Some racers even saw snow early Saturday! With the conditions being adverse to racing on Saturday, Pittsburgh Raceway Park switch the test and tune to Sunday, April 21. Winds were a lot calmer, temps were warmer, the sun was out all day, and a nice crowd hung with the switch to get some passes down the 1320. In the gamblers race. Mike Balaska, in his '89 Mustang, faced off against young Mike Barnyk, in his first final since moving from junior dragsters to his '69 Camaro. Barynk admitted to having some butterflies in his stomach. Barnyk dialed 10.92 to Balaska's 10.70, and missed the tree, the advantage going to Balaska and his .028 reaction time. At the finish line, Barnyk drops anchor as Balaska passed him, but Balaska has plenty of room, running 10.80, taking the stripe by .07. In winner's lane
Saturday, April 13th
It may have been a cloudy, cool, and windy day this past Saturday, April 13, at Pittsburgh Raceway Park, but it was dry! Racers took advantage to get some testing in, try new combos, and set personal bests in the cool air. It was also the first gamblers race of the season, and it was a family affair in the final. In a Mopar matchup, dinner table bragging rights go to Tyler Vislosky in his Duster, as he came out on top over dad Tim Vislosky in his '68 Charger.
